Explore the Andes.
Visit us and discover what makes Peru and the Andes so magical. Visit places that were the bedrock of the ancient Inca civilisation.
Take advantage of your stay
It is impossible to put on a single page what Peru can offer in terms of travel experiences. With such a rich culture, history and stunning landscapes there is more than enough to discover during your stay at our house. Even in the direct vicinity of our house you can find ancient (uncharted) Inca trails, mountain peaks, the Archeological site of Arwaturo in Ahuac-Chupaca, the lake of Nahuimpuqiuo, and at a bus or train ride away; the colonial mining town Huancavelica, the art and weaving centre of Junin; San Pedro de Cajas; and within 4 hours you find yourself at the footstep of the Amazon Jungle in La Merced, with waterfalls, whitewater creeks, traditionally living indigenous tribes, plantations and an abundance of wildlife and species of birds.
Visits
Besides championing the PASPLE organisation, being a former mayor of the local town of Matapuqiuo, Ahuac, and a painter and weaver herself, Elizabeth is also an expert guide and happy to be your personal guide for visits and tours in the area. At an affordable fee we can take you on day trips and local excursions around the area. We do recommend that you let us know your wishes before your arrival so we can plan accordingly.
Art and crafts in the region
Looking for beautiful jewellery or local artwork, you came to the right place. Our good friend Mr. Hilario is a local craftsman whose work is renowned in the region and throughout the whole world. As well as conventional crockery he is a master in the art of mates burilados or carved bottle gourds, by now a well known trademark of Peru. You may even have seen them in world shops around the globe. We can arrange visits to his little store in Cochas, the home of the mates, or even arrange classes with him where you can explore your own creative potential, whilst absorbing the indigenous style.
Weaving
Weaving is at the centre of Peruvian culture and has been a part of the PASPLE family for two generations. Elizabeth’s own father, Leoncio Tinoco Rodríguez, is a famous Master Weaver in Peru who has received multiple prices and awards for his work and contributions to weaving as an art. He has even been featured in multiple documentaries and expositions including one in in New York for National Geographic. Eli herself weaves and paints as well as her mother Eva. If you love to explore your creative side, we will be happy to oblige!
